In general (not speaking for 7d2d), AI is handicapped to the point the player doesn't get frustrated. Ranged combat is a good example. A human player will take a varied amount of time to steady their aim at a target and pull the trigger. This is often much slower than AI who will always execute given the same conditions over and over again. This usually results in AI being programmed to do less damage, shooting less accurately, or take much longer to react to a player in order to deliver a satisfying experience to the player.
